The landscape:
Abruzzo is a region of wonderfully varied countryside. The flat sandy coastline of the north gradually becomes steeper and more rocky the further south you go.
The green and rolling hills inland will remind you of some of Tuscany 's most beautiful areas but set amongst a backdrop of Abruzzo's two mountain ranges, the Gran Sasso and the more gentle Maiella. Such is the uniqueness of this region that it succeeds in uniting all the characteristics associated with Italy from the Mediterranean to the Apennine to the Alpine.
